Seventeen-year old jazz pianist Austin Peralta performs live-on-tape at KCRW. Peralta started playing classical piano at a very early age and discovered jazz at the age of 6. He looks like a typical westside skateboarder but he sounds like McCoy Tyner when he is seated at the keyboard. He has recorded several albums with jazz heavyweights for the Japanese market (on Sony).
This is his KCRW debut. He’s working with saxophonist Zane Musa, Cuban superbassist Carlitos del Puerto and drummer Joey Giachello.
